My little ones will soon be joining along. Trying to show my kids the best part of growing up is being outdoors and hunting! IA Born Report post Posted June 21, 2016 Like all of you before, my dad is the one who instilled my love of the outdoors and why I chose a career in wildlife management/conservation. No matter how much we fought growing up, we always buried the hatchet fishing on the Des Moines River below Red Rock Dam. I don't remember who said it above, but if you still have your parents, cherish every minute. I lost my dad on April 10, 2004, just 15 days before my daughter was born. I miss him every day and I'm learning to be a dad with what I was taught, rather than being able to ask for advice now. After a good day of pheasant hunting in Iowa on a weekend home from college. Our last fishing trip together and the last time I saw him. Lake Tahoe, June 2003 I've learned to cherish every minute I get with my kids, whether we're out hunting, fishing, at Taekwando, or a soccer tournament. Sometimes, its as simple as sitting in the backyard having an Otter Pop! Of all the things I've done and continue to do, being a dad is, by far, the best thing I've ever done and the best job I've ever had. My family, especially my kids, drive me every day.
