Brow tine Report post Posted June 16, 2016 Hey guys I'm a big time flat head fisherman and always kill the chanel cat at Alamo but iv never been striper fishing. I'm going to head to pleasant next sat after work for a overnighter. Iv never been to pleasant so was wanting to know if I would do better up river in some coves or in deeper water by the dang or middle of lake. Also I have access to plenty of baby carp and talapia as I live in Tonopah by plenty of canals so do u think catching lil fish and freezing then would be as good as anchovies? None can be transported unless bought at authorized Bait dealer .. So easy to say Live baitfish (other than what you can by at the store) must be caught in same lake. Tilapia can only be used in Yuma County Sun Fish and Carp can be used on the Salt River and lakes as well as the Verde So lake Pleasant is all good for Live Bait As far as frozen ... regs say that the flesh of any game fish can not be used as bait except for Sunfish ... So I would read that as Blue Gills all good to freeze up , but carp and tilapia would be illegal... personally I find it much easier to use artificial ... look for the surfacing fish and run a zara spook or buzz bait over top ! MULEPACKHUNTER Report post Posted June 16, 2016 I've been doing well just about anywhere I go. Drop light and do some chumming and see what comes to the light. dmoto Report post Posted June 17, 2016 Troll the coves with a Husky Jerk, Taildancer, Shad Rap, etc maybe an hour before sundown while looking for boils. Come across a boil, throw a swim jig or chatterbait with a skinny dipper trailer past the boil and reel it through the boil. You should be able to hook up with some fish doing that. Evening time, head up by the tires and/or the dam. Drop anchor, throw out a light and wait. Once the shad start circling, the stripers will probably show up. Dropshot a 1/0 circle hook and a 3/8 oz weight with a 1/3rd of frozen anchovy and you should be good to go. Drop it to the bottom and reel up about 6 feet. Start there. If you don't get a bite, reel up some more. Wash, rinse, repeat until you're on fish. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
