tjhunt2 Report post Posted June 8, 2016 I have an antique model Winchester 1873 I would like to get appraised. Does anyone here know a good appraisal gun shop who you believe are honest? I have looked several antique rifle places on the internet and have found a few that gives me an Idea but they all want money for there time. I don't have a problem paying someone but I would much prefer face to face. I've seen this gun range from $2,000 - $17,000. Type: Rifle Caliber: 22L Barrel Type: Octagon Trigger: Plain Serial number 308541 was applied on September 05, 1889. I have an official letter from Cody Firearms Museum that tells me it was received and shipped from the warehouse on September 24, 1889. Thanks, TJ
rageinthesage Report post Posted June 8, 2016 Wait, no pix of this incredible weapon??!!! From the sounds of it, it's probably worth a small fortune, but a weapon like that is priceless...;-)

brademan76 Report post Posted June 8, 2016 Beautiful rifle! As far as you know or can tell, is the rifle all original or has it been refinished at all? Can you share a couple more photos of the finish on the receiver and barrel? How's the bore look?
GreyGhost85 Report post Posted June 8, 2016 looking at gunbroker, there are a couple similar rifles, not in as good shape and no documentation like yours has, they are asking over $4,000. i would assume that it's gotta be worth more than that. hopefully "Levers" will weigh in
Couzer Report post Posted June 8, 2016 Wow what a dream rifle! Good looking rifle!!! I wanted one so bad that I paid $600 for a new Winchester 22/94 from Western Drug when Winchester announced they were moving over seas. It was the last one in the state that I knew of, I must have called over 40 gun stores in AZ.

I would give my left arm to sit and ask my grandfather about all the guns I have. He was a tool and die guy by trade and I'm sure he drilled these holes on the side of the receiver for a scope. All his guns were used for hunting and not saved for a collector item. Not sure how much the drilled holes would take away from value. I'm told as a collection item it wouldn't hurt that much but I don't know. The bore looks good. Here are a few more pictures. Not sure he ever got to scope it. tjhunt2 Report post Posted June 8, 2016 LOL, I don't think a .22 won the west? Yes, your right Chris. I was referring to the model and not the caliber. Sorry about that. Look up winchester 1873 and you will see what I'm talking about. TJ
