Replacing an Accutrigger

Recommended Posts

I searched quite a bit in the forum and I couldn't come up with enough to get to a conclusion so here it is.

I shoot a Savage 110 with an accutrigger in 7mm RM.

I don't have issue with pull/adjustment, and it's relatively crisp - I just don't love it, especially the feeling of the 2 piece blade/trigger.

For $99 - http://www.midwayusa.com/product/374640/timney-rifle-trigger-savage-10-through-16-110-through-116-210-accutrigger-15-to-4-lb-blue

I've been toying around with the idea of getting a Timney. I've shot a few rifles with them installed and have always shot with confidence, being left intrigued.

Anyone swapped from Accutrigger to Timney in a similar rifle, thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

Never in a Savage, but I love my Timney triggers. I have a 510, and two Calvin Elites. Also a Shilen Match. I will be buying my third Calvin Elite soon for my last remaining factory trigger which is set at 3#. I like the Timney a lot better than a Jewell HVR personally.

Is the issue that your accutrigger isn't light enough, or just don't like it? i love the feel of my accutrigger but i can only get it down to 3-3.5 lbs. i see you can buy a replacement spring for about $5 that will knock off a pound or so of pull.

Swapping the trigger on a Savage is pretty simple and straight forward. The hardest part is getting the sear spring and the bolt release to line up just right to get the pin through. I have grown to love the Accutrigger and with a little trimming of the weight spring or the replacement listed above you can tune them up nice and crisp with a 2lb pull. Having tried the Timney trigger, the Rifle Basix Sav1 and Sav2, and the SSS Trigger, the Timney or the Sav2 are definitely where it's at. I believe there are some nice write ups over on the Savage shooters forums under the articles section that talks about each trigger and directions for putting them in.

Thank you all very much.

I'd have to say both, but is far more the feeling of depressing the trigger blade to meet the trigger.
