Bear claws man by Cherry Creek

Recommended Posts

YOUNG, Ariz. (KGUN9-TV) - A man in his 20s was injured Wednesday morning when a bear scratched him through his sleeping bag in a dispersed camping area near Cherry Creek in Young, Arizona.

Bear spray was used and the animal retreated. The man was seen at a local hospital and released according to Arizona Game and Fish.

Based on the injuries and description, officers believe the bear was small and possibly young.

"If the offending bear is captured, it will be lethally removed because of the habituated behavior it demonstrated and the public safety threat it poses," says Arizona Game and Fish in a press release.

I've had the opportunity to eat quite a few critters on this planet but have never tried bear. Is it any good?

I don't like Bear meat much. Some people do.

Parker canyon is shut down cause of bears now too. It figures, a month after spring bear ends that the bear come out!

The spring archery hunts are open right now... I know several guys on here who are out chasing bears as I type.

Sorry for derailing the thread. Thanks for all the info. Looks like I'm buying a bear tag.

I dang near ran over a bear last weekend up on the big lake - Alpine road. It was a good looking black and faint brown bear of pretty good size.
