bear carver Report post Posted August 19, 2007 PRED8R, I went over to Springerville this weekend and did a little scouting on the way, I think you may like what I found!!
DesertBull Report post Posted August 19, 2007 I might be wrong but, I think you have to hunt at least one day on the ranch you purchased the tag from. If there are no bucks on that ranch, you can switch to another ranch, but you have to get a game warden to assign you a different ranch. You are not free to hunt wherever you wish. Good luck. Does that mean you can also hunt public land or just private ranches???? Jason
PRED8R Report post Posted August 23, 2007 Unit wide. If you have a ranch only tag you have to hunt that ranch the first day and then with the permission of g&f you may hunt elsewhere.

PRED8R Report post Posted August 24, 2007 Yes, it is a unit wide tag. Here is a link that describes the diference. http://www.wildlife.state.nm.us/recreation...horizations.pdf
jamaro Report post Posted August 24, 2007 I am not trying to be a bone-head but...... I wonder how they determine if you can get transfered???? But I wouldn't worry about it... Those ranches are full of bucks and I am sure you will find a legal buck. Jason
Brush Buster Report post Posted August 25, 2007 Unless somthing has just changed that I don't know about: Desert Bull is right Unit wide antelope tags are very differnt than unit wide elk tags. Even though it is a "unit wide" landowner tag you can not just go hunt any public land in the unit like you can with a unit wide elk landowner tag. The first day you will have to hunt on the ranch who you bought your permit from. If there are not any legal bucks on the ranch you may be reassigned to a differnt "unit wide" ranch. You will only be able to hunt on ranches (deeded or Leased public land) that are signed up, and only as the "unit wide" option Most of the unit wide ranches are either small or have few antelope on them. At least you have three days this year instead of two like before. Good luck on your hunt.
PRED8R Report post Posted August 25, 2007 I studied it more today, I guess that I do have to hunt that particular ranch the first day like you say. Oh well I guess I'll shoot the bigest one I can find there.
