Becker Report post Posted May 24, 2016 That's only 90 cameras trphyhuntr. You would need a LOT more to get a picture of "EVERY" buck on the strip.
trphyhntr Report post Posted May 24, 2016 My experience with the strip. I was up there for 5 consecutive years in a row. I had some of the easiest hunts of my life as well as some of the hardest. There are very popular places that you won't be hunting by yourself. And there are definitely places you can get away from everyone. The strip is a vast place. There are springs and water sources that people don't have cameras on and there are others that are famous for the number of cameras set on them. You can make that hunt whatever you want. There are bucks that people have pictures of in places that make them almost un-kill able. There are deer that get killed that nobody knows about. There are high density deer areas and others that seem devoid of life. It really is a spectacular place to hunt. Rough and unforgiving. Im too much of a Coues deer junkie to apply up there but its truely a once in a lifetime hunt. If you like the giant deer potential and being challenged it really is that place. and there we have it. 208muley Report post Posted May 24, 2016 I had the rifle tag in 08 and the archery tag in '10. I hunted the rifle hunt by myself, went 10 days early and scouted my butt off. No cameras, planes, or guides etc, dare I say old school.. Found one slug that got killed by a road hunter the second day, passed many solid deer in the 180-195 range and on day 5 I killed my 208" buck. After I killed him I asked around to see if anyone had a TC pic of him as I obviously didn't, no one had a pic, I did talk to a guy that helped a bow hunter and they tried to kill him one day, the only time they saw him and that guy practically lives on the strip. There are definatly deer that don't get their pic taken. The archery hunt was me and a buddy, we had two cams to check waters we weren't hunting. We hunted water near where we glassed big deer. To shorten the story, my buddy killed a 197" on day 12. He got a pic of him the night before. I ate a tag but that was only due to being way to picky. Took a bunch of pics with a real camera of the deer I passed, I look at those pics from time to time and just shake my head! If you want to wait for a strip tag then do it! Most amazing place to hunt Muleys anywhere! Don't worry about the crowds or the guides or any of that BS. if you are gonna go DIY there are plenty of guys, like myself, that will give you starting points. Go up there and do your thing, it will be the best hunt you can do! I know for me, minus my kids first kills, the rifle hunt in 08 was my biggest achievement in hunting. Mano y Mano and I got what I was after. Do it man! You won't regret it! And if you want to hunt deer most don't see and a place that I have never seen a camera on the waters then draw the tag and get a hold of me. Backpackers paradise, water is limited as with everywhere on the strip, but It would make for an awesome adventure. Good luck

I spent six days checking every water source while turkey hunting did not see one camera.
wildwoody Report post Posted May 26, 2016 Sound likes a bunch of smoke and mirrors to me, and there aren't any monsters in the Bab either, you guys are full of it in my eye's . I have a good friend who shot a buck called mouse last year scored 226" with no guide . Pissed alot of guides off, they missed out on trophy fees. I think your saying 200" 4x4's that's tough. But I don't no anything I've never seen a deer that big. But I agree with big browns if your only in it for a monster find a new hobby. Deer are very tasty and I don't mine there horns.

CWpredator Report post Posted May 26, 2016 I think you can kill a big mule deer in Colorado, Utah or Nevada and not have to wait half a lifetime to get a decent tag. idaho, montana, new mexico. basically AZ is the worst mule deer hunting in the country except for the north rim lol I think you can kill a big mule deer in Colorado, Utah or Nevada and not have to wait half a lifetime to get a decent tag. idaho, montana, new mexico. basically AZ is the worst mule deer hunting in the country except for the north rim lol very debatable statement. I only hunt Mule deer over the counter with my bow. AZ has some great mule deer hunting every year if you put the work in. the desert has Giants. Just have to pass a lot of 140-160 type deer to find them. (this was the small one compared to the one my partner missed opening weekend) that I was willing to drop my standards for and kill this past January. Not saying this buck is 200" club because he's not but bucks in the high 180 to 190" range are very huntable each year. You don't need the strip to kill 200"+ bucks. Bonus... You get to hunt every season and not waste 20 years for one shot at it.
