metau Report post Posted May 19, 2016 More importantly, what new toy did you pick up?
southernxpress Report post Posted May 19, 2016 Thank you for the replies guys! I figured there had to be someone local that could help out! As far as what toy I picked up... its another mill. I have a couple others already. The other big one I have came with a VFD and I can't get that one in the garage so I keep it at my brother in laws for now. I have been running a little bench top one to get most things done and now this is a big Bridgeport style one running a 2hp motor that I will be able to do much more with. metau Report post Posted May 19, 2016 Nice. Been looking at mills and lathes myself for when I build my shop. I may have to pick your brain when the time gets nearer.

mattys281 Report post Posted May 19, 2016 I started with a bench top lathe and mill in a 2 car garage. Kept reinvesting & reinvesting. .. 10 or 11 years later I have an rv garage with 2 cnc mills, a cnc lathe, and a hardinge chucker. For me its a dream come true. I like being able to make whatever I want whenever I want, but most of the time I make what other people want. I dont think anyone has ever regretted building their own shop. Keep at it guys! southernxpress Report post Posted May 19, 2016 Matt that is awesome! I didn't realize you had that much stuff at home. .. I remember seeing the video of the new toy you purchased a while back. I hear ya though. .. I rarely get to do things for myself its usually for everyone else. I have a project that I have been toying with in my head and if I can put it on paper I may talk to you. It would be much better suited for CNC:-)

metau Report post Posted May 19, 2016 Yeah, still got to build my shop though. From what I've researched so far, I'm decided to wait until I find a good deal on an overhead crane and then size my shop accordingly.
southernxpress Report post Posted May 20, 2016 I called Butch like suggested. He said for my type of machine what he carries isnt quite what I need but he told me to contact a guy name Dave over at Western Switches and that he can help me out better since he deals in my type of machines.
PRDATR Report post Posted May 20, 2016 We have bought relays from them but I didn't know they also had VFD's. I just drove past them about 20 minutes ago on my way to RSD.
