Drones

Recommended Posts

Ok, I admit it. I was a bit skeptical.

My son had saved up and bought a Bebop 2 drone. I'm hooked. Below is a link to his first video- I can just think of the possibilities of the arial shots and the "I wonder whats up there" moments.

It'll be fun scouting. Of course, it's illegal for hunting. I'm well aware and wouldn't break the rules.

Drone fishing.... that could be interesting. I have to admit though, I'd be the one guy in the crowd that was waiting to see a 10 lb. large mouth grab ahold of that lure and drag that drone right under that water.

If you fish and can't cast far into fish biting or middle of lake. Use the drone to take your lure to where you want and drop it .

Or just put on a heavier sinker.

I was visiting my wife at her school during a recess.....and all the sudden there is a drone flying over the playground....honestly gave me a creepy feeling......not sure I am really that excited about the drone era, and as far as out in the woods....last thing I want to see is another motorized device clogging up what I went out there to get away from.

In theory they look pretty cool just not sure of the ramifications of it all......

So reading the commission rules They can not be up in the air within 48 hours of the Opening Day of any BIG game Season in process ( not just your individual Hunt ) Also if used in a manner that an officer feels game is being harassed you would be in violation of the harassment Rules.

Jazz, you may want to check the regs. Most of the time, drones are illegal for scouting.

I did. And I'm not really going to go all out using this thing, just some aerial shots. F&G Rules dictate you can't even touch a drone two days before a hunt.

So based upon the reg. that str8tshot put up its NOT illegal for scouting unless a G&f office deems it is.

That being said-

The drones I have seen are loud. How can you use these for scouting without scarring the game off? i have been 100's of yards away and have spooked them.

It is 2 days before any open Season ... So if Archery Deer is open , you can not be using a Drone to scout for an upcoming ELK hunt ... So basically you would have a few Summer Months to possibly use it.
