Hunting will move more towards people who have more money then others. It would need to meet a certain criteria to be approved, pending such By the committee. They often tout hunter retention and parade that they cater to the youth. I say put your money where your mouth is and make all raffle auction governor tags (elk and big horn)go to a few lucky youths every year instead of the highest bidder. If they complain about loss revenue raise all tags and app fees to accommodate the change. Raising the fees for all of the other kids to make up for the lost governor tag revenue so that one lucky kid can "grip and grin" ought to raise hunter recruitment................... You'll get there. if you do the math based on volume alone the increase would be minimal For the tag and app fee. Last thing they need is a premium tag to kill a monster bull or ram when they'd be just as happy killing a spike. Call me selfish or whatever you'd like but when people kill things and don't realize what they killed or don't appreciate the size of the animal whether it be an adult or kid it drives me nuts. Guys have been hunting their whole lives to kill animals of that caliber. Best thing that ever happened was when they took the 3c junior hunt away. People laughed at me and said I was selfish when I suggested they should remove the junior hunt because these 10 year Olds were killing 200 inch bucks. The next year they removed it and that hunt has been the best it's been in years. Those kids are happy to just be out there and are just as happy shooting spikes so give them all the 4b, 4a, 3b tags they can handle. 2 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

That or, if you apply in a party you can't surrender the tag. I too do not like it one bit. All it is going to do is make tags harder to draw and put a price on points. I could get behind it for extenuating circumstances like health reasons but the case should be reviewed and G&F deems if it is a good excuse or not to surrender it 2 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

The difference is AZ is also going to give you a point as though you didn't get drawn at all. That's wrong, IMO. If you turn in your tag, fine.
