Heat Report post Posted May 12, 2016 Just curious about how you guys are fishing these little crankbaits like a crickhopper, wee craw, or cd-5? Are you casting or trolling? Str8Shot Report post Posted May 13, 2016 Never Used Cow Bells/ Ford Fenders in my Life and a mix of trolling or casting depending on the area.... Those Little Lures troll just fine on light and ultra light rigs with 4 lb test Fluoro ... it is all about the amount of line out and the speed of the troll. But to be Honest When trolling big lake I like trolling the Bigger Pin's or Crystal Minnows (about 4 inches) Might get a few less hookups but the quality is usually Much Much better. 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
Analogkid1014 Report post Posted May 16, 2016 Fishing was really good at Big Lake on Saturday, caught over a 100 fish between us, they hit everything in my tackle bag. Sunrise was slow but the quality was much better than Big Lake. Caught 7 nice Rainbows in a 11 hours worth of fishing between Friday and Sunday morning. Fished Reservation on Friday eveing for 4 hours and the fishing was good, a lot of small fish, they must have stocked some small fish because the lake is loaded with them. caught a few nice rainbows there and 4 browns on rapalas between 14-17", not huge but fun. Only time i have every done much good with bobbers is using a slip bobber to get down to the suspended fish and using a worm or salmon eggs. Most of the fish we caught were while we were trolling and we caught a few on slip bobbers and Powerbait on the bottom at Big Lake Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
Str8Shot Report post Posted May 17, 2016 Another very productive method I have used for years and for those who want to use wet flies but without the fly rod ... just use a spinning rod with 4-6 lb. mono, a bobber stop(a couple feet up), clear bubble (water fill type for weight) with a small snap below... 4 feet of leader material (2 lb. Fluoro works great) tied to snap and finish with fly of your choice. very productive from small streams to the lakes. They do make some clear torpedo Bubbles with eyes on both ends ... they work but tend to give more casting problems. 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
