Pac8541 Report post Posted May 5, 2016 What is the deal with people literally hating one clothing company or another? Is it arrogance on the part of the individual? Political affiliation? Group think/sheeple? Folks here seem to be pretty tolerant when it comes to, "I dig Kuiu," or "Firstlite is the sh!t." But go to another forum and everyone hates one company or another but loves a specific ONE. I don't really get it. I mean, I understand if its personal preference as in, they've been loyal to a certain manufacturer since the outset, but does that mean anything other than that is crap? I remember starting out in Walls bibs that I found at Walmart. I still have a bunch of stuff in Realtree Advantage and original Mossy Oak Break up. I don't recall anyone dismissing me because I wore that stuff and really, nothing could beat a quilted shirt sitting in a treestand in Dec. Kuiu seems to take a particular beating but I'm addicted to that stuff. Its technologically awesome and last Nov when I hiked 30 miles iin it, it paid for itself within the first 5 miles. I chose my ski parka this winter based on my experience with Dermizax NX, for crying out loud. On the other hand, I love First Lite as well. I think they've got fantastically effective clothing and design and their Fusion camo is pretty much the most effective thing I've seen in breaking up an outline. But that doesn't mean I'm going to be condescending to anyone who doesn't care for either brand. Sorry; rant over. It just got to me reading through threads on another site. bigorange Report post Posted May 5, 2016 Brand loyalty is everywhere...optics, bows, guns, trucks, and all of it doesn't matter...we're on the same team. But yeah I guess it's even like picking a sports team and gives a sense of identity or team to "join." I have a tendency to wear what's cheapest...sometimes to a fault. Who is the member on here who was posting pics of his bow kills while where a grey shirt and cargo shorts? Allforelk Report post Posted May 5, 2016 I'm 5'10" and wrestled most of my youth. My inseam is identical to my wife's who is 5'3.5 (?) @ 29". I wear what keeps me comfortable and is affordable. Say what you will but my Sitka pants are the most comfortable pants I've ever worn hunting. Pac8541 Report post Posted May 5, 2016 Maybe this came across the wrong way, I personally wasn't offended. Perhaps my tone in the initial post was the result of whisky and percocet... I just found it somewhat ridiculous that someone else would get bent over what another guy chooses to wear. As if the clothing or camo pattern he prefers somehow makes him less serious. Totally get the giving each other crap about one thing or another but that wasn't it. Total strangers are taking issue with each other over a brand. I've been wearing camoflauge for my entire adult life and in environments far more consequential than whether or not I get busted by an animal. I know what works and the mechanisms behind it. In my opinion, clothing is equipment and if a certain brand happens to capitalize on technology to keep me warmer, drier, more comfortable over a longer period of time while also offering better concealment then, other than cost, I don't see the downside. It doesn't mean I need to take out a 2nd mortgage so I'm kitted out to the extent my condoms are Vias or Optifade but the more critical pieces make sense to have. That doesn't make me a sucker nor does it say a single thing about my hunting skills. Edited to add that confidence plays a huge roll in the game and that goes for all my equipment. If I'm confident in my clothing's ability to do what I'm asking of it, that elevates whatever skills I'm applying on any particular hunt. 3 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

That being said Sitka and Kuiu are some of my favorite hunting clothes and since I hate the stigma of being a "trendy bowhunter" I personally choose to wear most of the solid colors. I have shot elk, deer, turkey at close range while wearing a kuiu jacket and camo vest. They didn't care that it was a solid color. To me it is about weight and quality of clothing. You can not knock the comfort until you have tried it. I'd personally spend $500 on clothing & $200 on a bow if I had to watch my budget. I've been chased home by cold weather & rain/snow before. I don't deal with cold too well, so I buy stuff that's wind proof and well insulated. That's what keeps me in the field, not being cold.
