John O Report post Posted May 5, 2016 Dead Ringers have served me very well. Blades are very strong, sharp, and it's almost impossible for them to fail. Flight on both 2 and 3 blade versions are perfect with my field tips out to 80 yards. Killed 4 javelina and 3 coues with them. You can find them for $20-$30 on Ebay. Just my 2 cents. Heat Report post Posted May 6, 2016 I love the Magnus line, both the Stingers and the Snuffer SS. Haven't tried the Black Hornet but those look excellent as well. What does it for me is their excellent customer service and the Lifetime Replacement Guarantee. If they didn't exist I would probably be using the VPA line. They have two blade and three blade heads all machined out of a solid piece of steel. The most important thing like most others have mentioned is shot placement. Beyond that if the blades are scary sharp your broadhead choice is insignificant. It's when the bad shots occur that makes the difference. dcshorthairs Report post Posted May 8, 2016 Thanks for the input. I too was shooting Magnus. My dad had a swacker that was laying around he didn't want. I shot it and I was very impressed. WampusCat Report post Posted May 10, 2016 I fell in love with the RamCat head last year. Fixed blade that truly flies like a field point. Blades are sharp on the backside and will fold the opposite direction and cut when pulled back out. Someday I will try the Solids or model similar. Only reservation is the broad profile catching too much wind. Love to hear of others results. I played around with the Schwackers a bit. Flew great but I didn't like the delayed opening of the blades. They have worked great for others, but I want a full diameter cut on the entrance wound. #1huntinfool Report post Posted May 11, 2016 Ulmer Edges for me! the bull in my avatar was killed @76 yrds. the only thing that stopped it from a clean pass through was the rib on the opposite side. it is a awesome design with a extremely low profile, and you can put in a little set screw for practice mode so it will keeps blades sharp. but like others have mentioned, shot placement is key to everything!
