HNTNGUY Report post Posted April 28, 2016 Looking to go around Pagosa Springs CO the end of October-beginning of November and wondering what the elk hunting is like. Not looking for favorite spots but more as to the population of elk
metau Report post Posted April 29, 2016 OTC Bull tags for 2nd/3rd rifle season. Lots of elk. Crawling with hunters. Still better than not hunting. Do it.

HNTNGUY Report post Posted May 7, 2016 Archery or rifle? Any suggestions?
metau Report post Posted May 8, 2016 Two completely different hunts. Both doable. Neither will be easy. If you do the archery hunt, don't expect much bugling. I'd suggest being there in August when the season opens, before the hordes hit the mountains chasing elk.

Ed67 Report post Posted June 17, 2016 I just returned from a weekend a little west of there and did a little lake fishing. Trout were biting larger super dupers either trolling or from shore. Lots of water runoff and the forest looks really green. Saw a lot of deer and elk.
