Are they done gobbling?

Recommended Posts

I was Inot 6b Thurs night to Sunday after noon before mechanical issues and only had one bird roosted sat morning and that was it and I know there were birds around its probably one of best covered turkey sign area I've found in 6b in many moons. Heard more hen talk and saw hens. I just think the 6b turkey are mute deafs!

Goulds peak much later than Merriams. In Chihuahua, best time to hunt is mid-may. No matter when you hunt Goulds, they will gobble. I watched two have a bad day this past weekend with friends and yesterday with another they were going bonkers (too bad hunter was slow to the punch on the multiple opportunities). Gobble gobble I have had Goulds gobble every month of the year but they will be hitting it hard until early June

Hunted and called in turkeys thru the end of the hunt in may for archery. They will talk u just got to find the right birds. One flock might be quiet and then you move over a ridge and u will find a tom on fire. Its all about location and catching the right flock the right time in my opinion. Doesnt matter what time . Hens will try and bread multiple times if they dont take so the mating season lasts a while

I always was on the band wagon for a while that arizona had way to late of turkey hunts cuz it always seemed like i was hearing nothing in the woods except a few here and there. Then i learned how to hunt turkey and call to them and i prefer the later season now! Thats my two cents!

Thank all of you for your input. If it were just myself I'd be out there next week whether they're gobbling or not. A friend from Denver drew a tag and was unable to hunt opening week. I was just hoping to get some intel to help him make up his mind whether to take off the time and spend the money to fly down hear. Thanks again.

We are in unit 1 and the birds were going crazy this morning but the wind and snow shut them up for the rest of the day. We have a couple in the roost tonight. We will see how receptive they are in the morning.
