Trout Experts: Wild Tiger Trout in AZ?

Recommended Posts

I was out fishing today. Caught this trout, and believe it is a wild Tiger Trout. Thoughts??

Brooks and Browns are in the same water.

Is this rare or common?

Look like it could be. I know I read something a while back about them putting them in some AZ waters and they were going be small ones.

Yea but is it possible for the Browns and Brooks breeding in the wild to create this tiger? I thought they were all bred in captivity then released?

AZGFD told me they will be releasing the hatchery raised tiger trout in May. All the stockers will be 8-10"+.

I can also tell you that I caught this trout in a body of water that (to my knowledge) has not been stocked in a long time. I plan to call AZGFD tomorrow to get their input.

That's awesome gmcbob, I was up in Utah on a back packing trip to various lakes and one of them had Tigers. I was unable to convince one to take my fly but man they were huge and very very colorful!!!! Congrats on the trophy!!!!
