San Carlos Fishing

Recommended Posts

It was nice to get back out on San Carlos today. First time since the fish kill. Felt like going back home. Fishing well, was lets say, felt like old times. My dad and I got on the water at 1130 am and off at 330. We caught a mess of nice crappie and 7 bass. One bass was 2.5 lbs and the rest were little. Great day.

Sadly it won't last. All that water has already been sold down stream. This year's high water mark is lower than last year. It will be drawn down to nothing again this year.

It's a lot higher, twice as high now than the year it went dry at this same time. But it'll come way down. You can hear it going out the dam. We will see. I've seen it a lot lower than it is now and make it. But who knows. All I know is that it was an awesome day. ☺☺☺

I hear you;can't wait for the return of the glory days. Currently the Gila is flowing in at 56cfs, but they are pulling out about 350cfs. We need true turd floater of a monsoon season followed by a true El Niño. Multiple years would be good.

I talked to a buddy yesterday, he said the water in San Carlos was a little warm and the yellowtail were being caught about 25 miles to the north where it was a couple degrees cooler
