Chris Report post Posted April 20, 2016 I have an issue, and can't figure it out, regarding my lawn sprinklers..... Maybe someone here can give me an idea or two to try. My lawn watering is split into two different runs. Run 1 and Run 2. Each has about 6 pop-up heads. In March, I notice Run 1 pressure was way down. Spraying about 1/3 of normal on all pop-ups. So I figured maybe the backflow/irrig valve was getting crappy, so I replaced it. NOW, with a new Valve..... same issue. ??? I don't know what else to check? The other side, Run 2 works just fine. I've always maintained this system, but I'm stumped!
creed_az_88 Report post Posted April 21, 2016 Is there a possibility that Theres a leak underground on the run with low pressure?
Chris Report post Posted April 21, 2016 I don't see any signs of it. But I'll check again.
TOBY Report post Posted April 21, 2016 Your solenoid on your valve seems to be bad. If you manual it kn from the valve to yoy get full pressure? If no leak sounds like the valve has an issue.
AZkiller Report post Posted April 21, 2016 The anti siphon wouldn't effect pressure. It could be the solenoid not letting the valve completely open but I doubt it. It's more likely the diaphragm in the valve. The first thing I would do is top out the valve. Buy a new one and replace the diaphragm spring and cap with the new solenoid and let's go from there.
AZkiller Report post Posted April 21, 2016 If there is an inline pressure regulator after that valve that could be it as well.
Chris Report post Posted April 21, 2016 I put in a brand new backflow valve, no change. I open it up to full....no change.
buddydog Report post Posted April 22, 2016 Has to be a leak or obstruction. Can you unscrew each sprinkler one at a time and flush the line??
Chris Report post Posted April 22, 2016 Yeah, that sounds like my next bet.
TOBY Report post Posted April 23, 2016 Have you checked the valve itself? Not the backflow but the valve that actually turns on the sprinkler.
Chris Report post Posted April 23, 2016 The backflow is the valve. Anti-siphon valve. http://store.rainbird.com/valves/sprinkler-valves/jtvas075-3-4-in-anti-siphon-jar-top-sprinkler-valve.html
tjhunt2 Report post Posted April 23, 2016 LMAO and not at you Chris. Just before I signed in to CWT my wife ask if I was going to fix our sprinkler head that seemed to have gone on a walk. I told her I didn't feel like doing anything today and signed in and your post, sprinkler help, was first on the topics. I started laughing and she came to see what I was laughing about. She said, "isn't that a sign you need to fix ours like right now?" So much for me being lazy today. Thanks a lot Chris. By the way, good luck with your sprinkler. Chris Report post Posted April 24, 2016 With sprinklers, it's always something. I still have not figured out whats wrong. There must be something in the line before the valve, so I'll just have to cut some pipe off and redo the header pipe.
DesertBull Report post Posted April 24, 2016 My line has a clean out at the very end of the run where the poly hose sticks up out of the ground and is capped off. Every few months I unscrew the cap and turn on the sprinklersto the flush out the line.
Millhouse Report post Posted April 24, 2016 If you turn the valve on manually (bleeder screw or turning the solinoid by hand) do you still have the same low pressure issue?
