Minox 15x58's vs Zeiss 15x45's

Recommended Posts

Which route would you go and why? I read through some of the old post regarding these but was curious if anybody had any new experiences good or bad with either. These will be an extra pair and back up to my swaro's. I have looked through the Minox and thought they were good glass for the money. I have never looked though the Zeiss so I have no idea how they compare. thanks

The minox's are going to bring in a lot more light. the zeiss are not going to be near as bright. I dont think high powers in smaller objective lenses work out to great. If you are going to have a high power then it needs a good size objective lense....anything over 50mm is pretty good. Exit pupil size on the minox is almost 4mm (3.86mm) compared to the zeiss which has a 3mm exit pupil...so optically the minox should be brighter....another thing to look at is who has better binos...i think zeiss does..they have better glass and lens coatings....I liked the 15x58 minox's compared to the swaro 15's there was not a huge difference midday but low-light the swaros took it. Minox has a 13x56 now which I looked through the other day but I was not happy with them....the nikon 12x56's were much better.....take a look at the nikons they are very nice, although they are 12 power not 15. I would go with either the nikons or minox though
