WTB- borrow window gun rest for Champ Hunter

Recommended Posts

A close friend was lucky enough to draw one of 25 Champ elk tags for 6a

Now this person has had numerous operations on his back and is pretty much immobile for the most part. A couple friends have offed to help with the hunt -so hopefully all he really needs to do is pull the trigger .

I'm hoping to find a rifle rest to make this hunt easier - I know he doesn't want to be a burden and wouldn't ask but from personal knowledge - he is deserving of this tag and any help offered

He's waited 8 yrs for this chance and was elated beyond belief ,that he actually drew a tag. Like something finally good in his life since all the other problems associated with back injuries

yeah I know a blanket - a pillow - a rolled up shirt etc - many of simple alternatives

we haven't figured all the ways to shoot from a vechile but there is no way he can safely/quickly exit and take a shot.

I think a good solid rest is whats needed - maybe something that has worked for other people under similar conditions

thanks

pm best contact

What about the clamp on style window mounts for binos with a threaded adapter, then screw on a saddle rest?

Something like Lance said. I would be concerned about a mount that clamps on to both the window and rifle. The recoil needs somewhere to go and would probably break the window if it didn't .

one needs to be able to move the rifle freely - maybe even the whole width / length of the window

I doubt a clamp on type would make it easy to move the rifle if needed- not a lot of room to adjust your body to get centered behind a clamp in the front seat of a truck

I see they make a sand bag type rest - any - all recommendations are helpful

Thanks

Don't screw it down tight. Then you can slide it back and forth....

I would hope when shooting from a vehicle you would be shooting at a fairly stationary target, and not need a lot of adjustment for a moving target once you get it in the scope.

Or watch some poaching sting videos to see how the pros do it.

just ideal as far as I can see

will let you know how it works out!

that way if he's in back seat - can shoot out either side pretty easy

bringing extra ear protection ! lol
