olmos1010 Report post Posted April 16, 2016 My dad came across a longbow that seems to be in good shape but it needs a string. I don't even know where to begin to find a string for this bow. If there are any traditional bow guys on here that can point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated.
elecshoc Report post Posted April 16, 2016 3 rivers archery sells an adjustable lenght string just for this. Most bows have a poundage listed on the belly of the bow just below the handle. Its customary to measure at 28" draw lenght. String up the bow and measure the weight at 28" and just get it close to the listed poundage. Keep in mind that for a long bow the brace could be quite low depending on who made. It.
Heat Report post Posted April 16, 2016 A longbow string is usually 3 inches shorter than its AMO length if measured by that standard.
