Hoss50 Report post Posted April 9, 2016 Has anyone ever swapped there red pad ruger m77 mark 1 to a prefix recoil pap? I can't find a straight answer on anyone that's makes a direct replacement recoil pad. Thanks Harley
STOMP442 Report post Posted April 9, 2016 Get a grind to fit pad and fit it yourself. You will end up with a lot better fit and finish. The pre fit pads rarely fit correctly in my experience.
PRDATR Report post Posted April 10, 2016 I put one on my T3 Lite and it looks fine but your experiences may be different. I'm sure there is probably a Ruger Forum somewhere that you can check.
Hoss50 Report post Posted April 10, 2016 How do you do the grind to fit? Belt sander? My problem is I don't own any wood working tools like sanders. I own tons of metal tools, nothing for wood.
Nodak Report post Posted April 10, 2016 I have a tang safety 06 and found one. But I cut the stock down to the same LOP. Trial and error Is how I found it. In the end the limb saver rubber turned to goo and I replaced it with grind to fit. I wouldn't waste time on pre fit again.
STOMP442 Report post Posted April 10, 2016 Belt sander for rough fit and some sand paper and turtle wax to finish fit. Mask off the stock with masking tape and wrap the sand paper around a small flat piece of wood or small sharping stone and just work your way around. Put a good movie on tv and get to it. Takes a bit of time but will look good when your done.
