Little help with safety question at a city of phx business

Recommended Posts

When he was talking about scratches from a couple creosote trees I couldn't help to think " Why all the Fuss ? " My grandma made us pick our own creosote limbs that were to be used as our switch when we misbehaved ... Lord how the World has Changed!

I agree with str8shot. The grannies should have been forced to cut their own creosote switches.

Living proof of the end of the world. Wonder how all those college kids that whine about being offended came about? And, I never even been to the museum. I own a furniture manufacturing company and let my 12 year old grandson use the planers and sliders.

Just curious, how fast was the tractor going? I see your concern if it was out of control, what I've seen with those types of operations they go at a Turtles pace.

Gee, let's call the feds and put the old ladies at the history museum in jail. Call Lerner "N Rowe and sic them on the old gals to get their social security. I hate OSHA with a passion. All they want is to make money. Maybe just write the museum and chew them out a bit. It is supposed to be a learning experience for the kids. As in learn not to go with Dad to the tractor ride.

I'm all for bashing OSHA and all of their nonsense but what I am sick to death of is having to play by their rules as a contractor and spending thousands upon thousands to keep our guys in "compliance" so that OSHA doesn't fine our pants off and then the state run organizations get away with murder (or almost in this case so it sounds). As hoghntr said he's tried to reach out to multiple state and fed organizations to try to get this corrected to no avail. The government will always back their own people even when they're dead wrong. As far as throwin old grannies in jail that's up to you dude if that's your thing but OSHA comes after the contractor when they don't train their personnel properly not typically after the individual.

Maybe your grumpy old a$$ should call Lerner n Rowe to collect some more social security for ya so you can buy some hooch to wash down that chill pill you so desperately need. Hoghntr asked for some help with keeping kids safe cause he's a volunteer himself and helps others more than most and all you can do is bash anyone trying to help.

But reall hoghntr, snake signs? Come on man that's just a little overkill, coming from an AZ native. Good luck on making the museum aware of their recklessness and getting that fixed. I'm out on this. Too many haters in this forum.

BowHuntAZ ... This is not a state or city run business ... It is a Business Ran by a Non For Profit Foundation that started in the late 50 or 60's

BowHuntaz,

You have to love it to when your told to wear, safety glasses, hard hat, reflective vest, steel toed shoes and a safety harness. I pay my own liability insurance and workmans comp. Sometimes I just want to go postal on these people. They just drive the cost of construction up.

Contact the Arizona Attorney Generals office. They can point you in the right direction.

It's pretty shameful, how some of you treat a person that is looking for honest advice!

It's a sad deal for the small, really small business owner with OSHA. I work for a small business with 600 people (yes, it's still a small business) I could make a killing if I reported some things to OSHSA but in my line of work the government gives 1000's of forgiveness and no warnings or citations. Hog, I want to be on your side on this, I wasn't there so I won't comment but the way you tell the story, it wasn't a big deal. Again, I wasn't there man. I hope you get what your looking for.

If somebody gets run over.....a kid.....and dies....now it is a big deal, pretty sure Hog is just trying to prevent something from happening.

I remember when I buried my dads tractor in the ditch cause I didn't turn soon enough, and then the other time I hit the valve on the propane tank with the plow on the tractor. I was probably 14.......maybe 15.........no OSHA called but dad was worse than OSHA........

Driving tractors ...... well, all I can say is "older" tractors isn't the same as hopping into a Prius........

in my day if some kids dad started yelling like he was scared of a wagon ride on a field trip, that child would never live it down. would legitimately have to move to a different school.

Right....but your dad would have expected that if somebody was sitting behind the wheel of a tractor that they dam sure knew how to drive it too........and if that tractor went wild all over the place he probably would have yanked that person off the tractor and given them the what if!!!

Lots of things to factor in.....first the possibility that you have a trailer load of kids that 1. have never seen a tractor in real life.....2. have never been on a trailer being pulled by a tractor......3. a driver that is driving a tractor with no brakes and no experience......

Sure, out on the farm where you grow up around all that it is a non factor......it is life every day.

In the small farming community of Eastland, UT. where I lived, about 5% of the male's between the age of 14 and 64 buried in the community cemetery, were a result of tractor accidents.

Things go south fast in a tractor mishap.
