DesertBull Report post Posted August 8, 2007 All good advice! The solitude and quiet and concentration is wonderful. Good time to sort through stuff in your head, and also a good time to shut up and be quiet before the Eternal - He might have something to say to you. Mike Good stuff! Atypical Report post Posted August 9, 2007 i like to manage my time between hunting/looking and very quietly reading one page at a time, then back to looking, moving your eyes mostly and minimal to no head movement. Your butt had to be confortable. Sun-up to sunset can be a long 12 -14 hours, but I dont suggest headphones, as they're too loud, distracting, and the electronics negates the love of the hunt which is appreciating all of the living things, feeling the earths energy, and maintaining a heightened level of awarreness for the deer/bucks/lions arrival. Stay in the zone. Good luck, great buck.
Coues 'n' Sheep Report post Posted August 9, 2007 I have always read small paper back books.... and have never gotten caught by a deer.... read one page then pause to scan around you.....then repeat. It helps me to sit still. I agree with the others.... leave the high tech crap at home. My buddy that hunts with me has taken 3 big coues bucks and he chews and spits on the ground. We all pee in the bottle though.... most of the time. Funny note: I shot a 94" gross buck one time with my bow just about 10 minutes after I had to climb to the ground and back because I dropped my book! That buck came through the brush soo quiet! He was alert and ended up jumping the string a bit..... but, I think he heard me and came to investigate.... because I had seen him rutting does near by about an hour or two earlier. Who knows..... Ya just never know what might happen out there...

wardsoutfitters Report post Posted August 10, 2007 here's the deal Tree stands are good but double bull blinds are better. In january I had 13 cliants harvest coues deer out of double bull blinds. the key is to make them scent free go buy one and take it out somewhere near the spot you are going to be hunting , pop it up and let it sit a week, then go and place it near the area the buck it comeing to try to put it down wind at least 20 yards. when you decide you are going to hunt it where scent free clothing and spray your self down with scent away. then when you get in the blind spraw the whole inside with scent away. now the last think get some natural scunk scent and place no more then two drops out side the blind, then its a waiting game. make sure yiou have the blind up at least a week before you hunt to give the deer a chance to get used to it. In most cases if you brsh it in good they wont even pay atention to it. the advantage to these blinds is they hold in most of your scent. try it and you'll never climb a tree again!!!!!!! Where do you have most of your blinds? Are they in the southern half of the state where there are no trees That would explain your love of the DB. I think your outfit sounds familiar where are you located?
shortpants Report post Posted August 10, 2007 I bring a dvd player with head phones and put in a good comedy. I laugh into my cough silencer so I remain silent. I just pee in my adult diaper so that I don't have to move or make noise. Every few minutes I push pause on the dvd and scan and listen. I also fart into the cough silencer, it silences the noise and traps all the scent, then it's back to laughing away! I use two camel packs, one with water and one with blended up food that I can just suck through the tube. I've never killed anything out of my stand yet but I've made memories that will last forever! wardsoutfitters Report post Posted August 10, 2007 I do hunt in the southern half of the state but at higher elevations so we have plenty of trees. I video most of the hunters that I guide and It makes it alot easier to film when your on the ground, in a blind and confurtable "sorry cant spell" to be honest with you the love for double bull blinds comes from being able to move around while in the blind, being able to fall a sleep and not die when you hit the ground. I started useing them when I had younger and older cliants. the old timers couldn't climb and the youngsters I didn't feel i could leave them in a tree. I have also found them more efective in scent control and that is 90% of the battle, when it rains and snows you stay dry, if your cold you light the heater and then your warm. if you get to hot you turn on the fan and your cool. As for where I'm located I live in Willcox, az. Here is a few pictures of bucks from January,2007 if you would like to see more Pictures and videos Check Out our web site at www.wardsoutfitters.com Steven
