Can't beat 'em for the price-300.00. And the no fault warranty is hard to beat as well.

trophyhunter Report post Posted August 7, 2007 Nikon Monarchs are good and hase one of the best warranties Also the Br Bl's Minox 10X42 are really good for the money. They have dropped in price about $170.00. I know at SW you can get em for $229.00. Either of these two you can't go wrong.
SilentButDeadly Report post Posted August 7, 2007 I just bought a pair of Celestron Outlands 10x42, 65.00 from REI with a 15% member discount it came to 56.00 with tax. They are normally 109, but were on closeout - you can find them online for around 65.00 They are great for the price I paid! Tyson

Diamondbackaz Report post Posted August 7, 2007 I will put my leupold pinacles up against anything. 1/3 the price of Swaros. D&R sports had the best price. Nikon monarch another good choice.

swishjth Report post Posted August 7, 2007 I followed several discussions on optics within this forum before finally joining this site. I was in the same situation, looking for dependable binos...without spending huge money. I believe the members of this site offer very good information and would recommend a search of past discussions to help in your decision. After reading a few opinions, I ended up going with the Nikon Monarch 10x42 ATB and so far I am definitely satisfied. I've had them out in the late evening with low light conditions and have been very impressed. I can free-hand them with little problem and they seem to be comparably light weight. I haven't had any field experience with the "top dogs" (Swaros, etc.) but for under $300 I think the Monarchs are great. The no-fault warranty is also nice. Some of the best advice that i came across was to go somewhere that sells a lot of different brands and try them out for yourself. I noticed right away some of the other brands I tried were not comfortable on my face and/or spacing was an issue. There is a possibility, even if its the best glass, some of binos might not be the best fit for you. The side by side comparisons really helped my confidence in the purchse. Good luck. Thanks to everyone else who helped me make my decision!
josh Report post Posted August 7, 2007 Save your money and just bite the bullet for the swarovski's. I went through two pairs of 10x42's in the less expensive brands before finally buying the swaro's. In hind sight I wish I would have just saved my money and went for the best the first time. Good luck

Good luck great advice.....you will probably end up spending the same amount of money over time on a bunch of mediocre pairs, when you could have just bought one that will last you till the end
