Oak Creek Fishing

I'm taking the family up camping this weekend and would like to get my 5 year old daughter on some fish. I've struck out almost every time I fish Oak Creek. Can anyone point me somewhere to catch some fish up there?

did you check the stocking schedule? most areas are stocked after april1.

The streams (Oak Creek, West Clear, and Wet Beaver) are not frozen, but are running high and murky due to the snow melt and fishing opportunity is poor.

Have you ever tried fishing oak creek down by Page Springs Hatchery? You can fish directly behind the hatchery,also the kids might get a kick out of seeing the fish at the hatchery.

So headed out and fished the areas where they stocked the creek. We could see about 20-30 fish in the water in the pools, but no takers. Tried everything from power bait, salmon eggs, worms, spinners, and a bunch of different flies. The water was crystal clear and beautiful. The fish were in there, just couldn't get them to bite.

I have not, I was actually thinking about it, but we were camped up in Pine Flat and stayed up in the canyon most of the weekend. I'll have to try that out next time.

If you strike out on the creek, go down to Verde River, theres a few spots where folks catch bullhead catfish all day and the kids love it!
