GreyGhost85 Report post Posted March 9, 2016 Personally I would go with the Savage and not think twice. Put the $400 savings into the scope. but then you would be shooting a savage.... I agree. It was a jagged pill to swallow for me. Glad i did though. Still beats a weatherby though
trphyhntr Report post Posted March 9, 2016 They do seem kind of "cheap" but for whatever reason, they really shoot well. Most bang for your buck IMHO fair review. the tikkas feel like a toy also. lancetkenyon Report post Posted March 9, 2016 .300WM vs. .300RUM is about 100-200fps. The .300RUM can be loaded down to .300WM levels, but not vice versa. But at more recoil, muzzle blast, and powder consumption. Both will get you to a mile easily with proper bullet choice and lots of practice. My choice, if you look at my stable, would be the R700. I am not sure of the mag length of the Savage, but the R700 LA is 3.800+, long enough to shoot 210/215s easily at mag length for a repeater in the .300RUM, and way long enough for the shorter cased .300WM. Both are a better choices than a .300 Weatherby....

FB67 Report post Posted March 9, 2016 I have 4 Remington's three 700's in 300 win 308 and 223 and a 660 in 308 they are all capable of shooting under 1 MOA and the 300 and 308 700's under a 1/2 MOA or better ( all depends on the shooter) So I would say go with a Remington because I am biased. That being said I have never owned a Savage but shot one a few times and it shot great. I have been told by a lot of shooters that they are very accurate and they swear by them, but there is something about the style I just can't warm up too.
