High Volume 223/556 reloading

Recommended Posts

Does anyone do or have a machine that does high volume reloading for 223/556? I have a Dillon 550b, that I will use, just wonder what others do or use or swap services. I have all the components that is not a problem.

I do all of mine (about 4700+ currently fully loaded) on a single stage press. It sucks, but I get consistent results. I just do it one stage at a time. I try not to get too far behind, but last batch I ran was about 2000. I won't do that again. I worked on those all Christmas and New Year's four day weekends. And I still have to powder and seat bullets.

My brother has a Dillon progressive, and he does his way faster than I can.

I have a Hornady LNL progressive. I only load 223 for hunting coyotes so I don't usually do a bunch at a time. However, I loaded 1000 rounds of 9mm a couple weeks ago and had them done in about 7 hours.

A Dillon 650 with the powder alarm is the only way to go for 223 in my opinion. 100 rounds in 15 minues is awesome!

The 650 with all the trimmings would be the way to go, I run a 550 and get pretty good numbers although I've never timed it. The Dillon throws really good charges as well. Me and a buddy ran 5000 rnds off a few years ago and I shoot them in my bolt 223 with jagged holes down range.

I load mine on the dillion, if you get two people, one checks every 3-5th charge, and keeps the machine fed lol. as long as you dont use the extruded powder, mine will really crank some out on blc-2, its just not nearly as consistant when using varget.

If I'm just stocking up, I but a 30 pack, gather my bullets, brass, powder, and primers and drop it off to a bust from work. If in making coyote/javelina loads, I use my single stage RCBS, but I probably only make 100 of those a year or so.
