rambo Report post Posted March 24, 2016 Nice! My first bull was very similar to this one. The horn was wore down at nose length. The same unit in 1991, the Unicorn gene is strong in this unit.
azslim Report post Posted March 24, 2016 saw 2 bulls in 5BN about 10 years ago with same configuration, they posed for me broadside at 20 yds while I sat there with a cow tag in my pocket, I sure wanted to take one of them home with me
GJMauro12 Report post Posted March 24, 2016 This bull is also from 5BN in 2010. Also with a right antler/pedicle issue like your dads. Does everyone think this is just a genetic flaw in that area or something was damaged during birth/ life? Or maybe it's just something that can show up in any elk herd and not just this particular area. I know There's lots of funky bulls out there and they aren't all from 5BN. Thought it was odd that both these Bulls have an issue on the right side though and from the same Unit.
GreatWhiteBuffalo Report post Posted March 25, 2016 I shot a bull there in 1982 with the same right side unicorn. Genetics for sure, or it could have something to do with meteor crater.
azslim Report post Posted March 25, 2016 +1 on genetics, I took a herd bull in Wy that had a messed up L side, all his offspring had the same type of rack
