azbcat25 Report post Posted February 25, 2016 Going to Pheonix first week of March ( spring break,w/ the wife/mother in-law) PLEASE HELP - taking the boat to escape, any bass lake you would recommend this early? Always catch and release. Thanks
bigj23 Report post Posted February 25, 2016 If you like to bed fish I would hit Canyon or Saguaro. Apache is awsome but a pain to get to. Fishing is decent right now with the bigger fish moving up. Bartlett is not bad either if you want to stay close to Phoenix.

azbcat25 Report post Posted February 26, 2016 Never heard of El-salty. How bad is the road into Apache? I have a pretty nice boat, don't care to take it 4 wheeling. Saguaro and Canyon are going to be it! Is there a reasonable hotel near, I would like to fish them 2 day's w/out having to go all the way back to Suprise. I will post how fishin was! Thanks for the help. You ever need help on Mead or Mojave let me know.
bigj23 Report post Posted February 26, 2016 Your boat will be dirrrrrttttyyy if you go ya Apache. No choice but a bumpy, dusty road. We have a tournament there on 12th of March, and we just plan on having to wash it. Hardest part is the dirt in the carpet. If you can deal with the dirt, there is a hotel at the Marina at Apache. All three lakes have roads. You could drive to Bartlett from Surprise in 45 min each day and catch the same numbers or more, but defiantly not the same size opportunity. lancetkenyon Report post Posted February 26, 2016 I took my boat to Apache twice. That was it for me. Great lake, beautiful scenery, but either way in sucks. Through Roosevelt, might as well stay there and fish. Through Apache Junction, might as well stop and fish Canyon. I drive that road quite often for work, and I will never take my boat to Apache again.
trphyhntr Report post Posted February 26, 2016 ive towed a boat a 100 times there but never a really nice boat. and yeah ive lost probably 8 bunks off the trailer and god knows how many screws from the interior. i really dont think its that bad if you go slow though. but then again id tow my boat straight to heck if its the closest place for a walleye bite the april-may senko bass bite is well worth too it imo. dmoto Report post Posted February 26, 2016 I was up at Apache last Saturday. Towed my Champ 181 on a single axle trailer. Took the back way in from Roosevelt. The road was in decent shape. Didn't lose any taillights on my trailer this time around, so in my opinion it was a good day. Smallies were crushing green Pointers and 110's. Picked up a few on dropshot and spider jigs. But seemed that craw cranks and jerkbaits were the ticket.
Dan Report post Posted February 27, 2016 Fished Apache last Saturday. Bite was not great but somewhat steady. Got into a couple of nice smallmouth.I would go Roosevelt way and launch at 3 mile. It's only like two miles of dirt and launch is a little steep but way easier on the equipment. Havasu or Apache would be my choices. Jake
azbcat25 Report post Posted February 27, 2016 Gong to Havasu on Sunday! Problem w/ Havasu is there will be a tournament on this lake every weekend for the next 2 months but it is still fun to pick those huge smallies off their beds.
