HuntHarder Report post Posted February 22, 2016 This warm weather has my trigger finger getting itchy! Have any of you guys out fishing, started to see any carp on the surface yet? I think it is a little bit early, but 90* this early in February is rare and I am hoping it is kick starting the carp activity.
rcdinaz Report post Posted February 22, 2016 I was thinking the same thing! I am going to give it a couple more weeks but I gotta imagine the day shooting at Roosevelt will pick up fast.
CouesPursuit Report post Posted February 22, 2016 sorry for this unrelated question, but do you guys run your fishing tackle on a back up bow of sorts, or do you run it on your primary setup?
brademan76 Report post Posted February 22, 2016 Gentlemen, I'm new to the valley and haven't actively looked for a bowfishing spot yet. Have bowfishing gear, will travel. Any tips or open boat seats appreciated!
brademan76 Report post Posted February 22, 2016 sorry for this unrelated question, but do you guys run your fishing tackle on a back up bow of sorts, or do you run it on your primary setup? I've got a dedicated fishing rig. A lot of guys will convert an old bow, but a lot of bow manufacturers make bowfishing specific models.
CouesPursuit Report post Posted February 22, 2016 Thanks for the response. I just upgraded setups and was planning on converting my old Bear to a fishing rig, figured that was the way to go, then just sight it back in for hunting arrows a few weeks before August archery deer to have a backup on hunts for the rest of the year. As for a report, I bass fished Sag a couple times in the last few days and didn't see any carp on the surface and only a few bass mustering up some beds. As you probably know already, I do typically see a lot of carp and buffalo at Roosevelt about this time crappie fishing though. I'll keep the thread updated if it stays alive. HuntHarder Report post Posted February 22, 2016 Thanks for the replies. We are planning on getting out March 4th for the first time and I am hoping for some excitement. Couespursuit- I do the same thing you are describing with my set up. I currently use a 2007 Bowtech Tribute (backup bow) and back it down to 60 lbs for bowfishing. Overkill I know, but those deep Buffs do not stand a chance haha. I purchased the Muzzy bowfishing kit, and have been really happy with it after a year of use. Comes with a reel, reel seat, arrow, line and rest.

bowfishAZ Report post Posted February 23, 2016 Shooting at night has been great at a few of the lakes for the last few months. Anytime now the buffs should be up!
rcdinaz Report post Posted February 23, 2016 Let's plan an outing! We usually go at night and have yet to chase buffs so I would be all in for that as well. We have 6 bows (one is not tuned though), all are bowfishing bows. We usually do 3 shooters, 2 on the front deck and one in back. We have plenty of arrows, all the bows are set up to run spinning reels.
Ringer Report post Posted February 23, 2016 I fished Roosey two weeks ago and there must have been 200 carp on the surface in the back of the sherrif's cove. Nothing big but a lot of targets.
