First for us

Recommended Posts

Had a heads up that Santa might be bringing my daughter Sarah a bow for Christmas so I chose a HAM hunt for My wife Suzy and Sarah. We headed up to a new area, one that we spend quite a bit of time in but had never hunted before and Sarah snapped this picture of a lion that crossed the road in front of us at mid day. Pretty unique cat, the end of his tail and the lower half of his back legs was a deep chocolate color. He is in the upper left of the picture. I bailed out of the truck and was on the center stripe when a truck roared up beside me. I thought it was ADOT, nope AZGFD. If I had done something stupid AND ILLEGAL like shoot from the truck, the road, or across the road, would have been busted. Good Karma.

We were unable to locate any pigs the first afternoon but glassed some up across a huge canyon the next day. We made a big loop to get the wind right and got into about 25 yards before getting busted by a pig we had not seen. There were about a dozen and they scattered like quail but I was able to bring some back in with a varmint call.

Sarah put the smack on a nice boar and Suzy shot one also with a Ruger SP101 in .357 mag., Snubby at that.

Great time in Gods country.

That's awesome. Great way to break in a new bow. Gotta love the hanging javelina picture. That's the only way to show their true size sometimes. Congrats to all of you guys. You should have a lion hunter/houndsmen's number in your contacts at all times for the rare times when you see a lion like that.
