Hoss50 Report post Posted February 14, 2016 Anybody here into planting your own gardens? I am sure there are. How big of a garden do you do, and what are you planting this season? I am headed outside right now to start planting ours. I did a bunch of soil work over the last couple weekends to hopefully have a nice crop this season. brent Report post Posted February 14, 2016 My set up is three raised 4'x4' beds. My wife and I get more that we can eat from this small space. Since October I have had fresh salads every day for lunch. I just yanked out some lettuce heads earlier this week to plant my tomatoes and tomatillos. I started the tomatoes from seed about 6 weeks ago. I also planted onion shoots from Dixon Dale Farms in one bed about a month ago. This early warm weather should make for a good spring garden. Viper Report post Posted February 14, 2016 I just finished three raised beds...6x3x12" deep. We were just talking about what we will plant today or tomorrow. Definitely tomatoes and green beans. We have been harvesting lettuce, kale, spinich, and some tomatoes most of the winter.
MULEPACKHUNTER Report post Posted February 14, 2016 Yep its that time, we have raised beds as well, 3 about 8x5. Also did some work on the chicken house since I lost my birds to yotes last year including a 35 lb turkey. Cant wait to get back to fresh eggs. We usually do lettuce, tomatoes, squash, peppers, potatoes up north, herbs of all kinds. Really leaning on getting a few pigs this year and we get rabits from our neighbor every ounce in a while. The garden in Heber just goes nuts, going to have to expand up there this year, Last year there were several trips up where I just brought protein and had all the fixins from the garden, Potatoes do really well up there. Anyone ever do some corn?

muledeerarea33? Report post Posted February 14, 2016 Skipped last years garden but got a good compost pile built up. I was out today pulling the grass out of the raised beds and got some lettuce and spinach seeds planted. I'll start my chilies, maters, cucumber, and green beans next month. Haven't been able to ever get green beans to produce here. Maybe this year.

Viper Report post Posted February 15, 2016 I used some old cedar fencing, 3 slats high and reinforced the sideswith rebar stakes. Then filled with a sandy loam mix from Pioneer Materials....about 1/3 the cost of bag stuff from Home Depot. Just finished planting today. Tomatoe, strawberries, mellon, green beans, bell pepper, carrots, beets, sweet onion, garlic, lettuce...
Non-Typical Solutions Report post Posted February 17, 2016 You guys are too funny.....still frost on the windshield up here......but since I didn't have wrestling practice yesterday I did get out and start working on getting the corner flower bed cleaned up.....beautiful after school workout in the yard. We will probably get a freak storm that will kill everything off at least one more time. I always get my tomatoes out too early, then one day an oldtimer lady told me never plant tomatoes until after memorial day weekend........I can't ever seem to wait that long. Home grown tomatoes are the best.......
