Green Bullet Report post Posted February 10, 2016 I'm considering doing some out of state draws to increase my chances of going on a quality hunt more frequently. I'm computer savvy and don't have an issue filling out paperwork/apps, but I need some info on what units offer what oppty, etc. What sites provide the most value in this regard? bwp22 Report post Posted February 10, 2016 I use Hunters Trailhead. I think its $35/ year now but I feel it is worth it if you apply for several states. I apply in 3-4 states a year for various species and it really helps to sift through hunt units (% public land, harvest %, draw odds, etc.) The draw odds are much more accurate based on bonus/preference points and you can search hunt units based on certain criteria. WhtMtnHunter Report post Posted February 10, 2016 If you are just starting out in the NR tag game, then definitely get the Huntin Fool for a year. The $100 is well worth it for the information you will need to get you started. You can always go back and look at the old magazines, the information rarely changes. If a new unit rises, by the time you see it in print it will be too late anyway. I look back at my Huntin Fool mags from 10 years ago and there isn't much difference. duckhunter175 Report post Posted February 10, 2016 I'll second WhtMtnHunter-- For just starting out it has some great info available. There is also good historical data in the older magazines which they make available online. They publish a small handbook once a year that breaks down the application process for each state and each animal and any changes that have been made. The monthly magazine then refines that detail with unit info and specific considerations for the upcoming season. One of the best features was after you draw!! You submit the animal/unit you drew and they send a list of names and numbers of people who have had that tag in the past. They are INCREDIBLY HELPFUL. Not that getting on a forum is bad, BUT, I can tell you that not every forum has members that are as helpful as CWT!! Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
