Hopi Hunts

Recommended Posts

It should be a good hunt, because you can hunt the Hopi & state land.

What's the catch? Do you have to have a native guide. There's gotta be a catch or everyone would be doing it.

When I went to put in there were not any numbers for separate Hopi Hunts but there were draw odds for them last year which was a bit confusing so I was thinking that if you drew say 5A you could then go to the tribe and get a Hopi tag.

Hopi have the first opportunity to draw the tag during the draw.... You have to be Hopi in order to apply for that hunt during the normal draw. If not enough Hopi apply and draw, the residual tags are allocated during the leftover process.

Azgfd set aside a number of permits for elk and antelope for Hopi tribal members only. Those tags are good for the entire unit not just the Hopi lands. By doing this the agreement was that the non tribal members would still be allowed access to hunt Hopi land by a sign in and sign out process if they wanted to hunt those lands in that particular unit. Once the draw is finished and if they didn't get enough tribal members to apply for the tags then the tags go up for grabs to all of us during the left over process. Hope this clear it up

Used to do the any op hunts on east and west sunset Mt, then they did away with the bull tags. No fun anymore..
