PRDATR Report post Posted February 8, 2016 Has anyone hunted the Hopi Hunts? The odds seem higher and I'm sitting on 15 points.
Big Browns Report post Posted February 8, 2016 It should be a good hunt, because you can hunt the Hopi & state land.
Viper Report post Posted February 8, 2016 What's the catch? Do you have to have a native guide. There's gotta be a catch or everyone would be doing it.
missedagain Report post Posted February 8, 2016 Unless you're Hopi you can only get these hunts as leftovers.
PRDATR Report post Posted February 8, 2016 When I went to put in there were not any numbers for separate Hopi Hunts but there were draw odds for them last year which was a bit confusing so I was thinking that if you drew say 5A you could then go to the tribe and get a Hopi tag. Chris Report post Posted February 9, 2016 I'm not sure what the Hopi Tribal Business License fee amount is? Anyone?
Coues79 Report post Posted February 9, 2016 Hopi have the first opportunity to draw the tag during the draw.... You have to be Hopi in order to apply for that hunt during the normal draw. If not enough Hopi apply and draw, the residual tags are allocated during the leftover process.
4Falls Report post Posted February 9, 2016 ^this. That being said there are always leftovers for this hunt.
buffhunter Report post Posted February 11, 2016 The reason why is because some of the land in 5b north 5a and 4a is actually hopi land
Chris Report post Posted February 12, 2016 And then you pay the fee! What is the fee amount?
buddydog Report post Posted February 12, 2016 No additional fees associated with tag.
buglethemin Report post Posted February 12, 2016 Azgfd set aside a number of permits for elk and antelope for Hopi tribal members only. Those tags are good for the entire unit not just the Hopi lands. By doing this the agreement was that the non tribal members would still be allowed access to hunt Hopi land by a sign in and sign out process if they wanted to hunt those lands in that particular unit. Once the draw is finished and if they didn't get enough tribal members to apply for the tags then the tags go up for grabs to all of us during the left over process. Hope this clear it up
