DesertBull Report post Posted January 31, 2016 Why is mass produced factory finish considered "sacred".
.270 Report post Posted January 31, 2016 I think out of all the pre 64's I own, only two have the original finish on em. I like em to shoot. Lark
Desert muley Report post Posted January 31, 2016 My pre-64 model 70 in .270 is the ugliest gun I own and is also the one I have taken more game with than all my other rifles combined. I never even considered refinishing it cause I will just beat it up again since I use it so much.

Chris Report post Posted February 5, 2016 Sacred my butt. Did you see Roger Rule on discovery channel, have "the custom shop" in Montana build a custom stock for model 70. Roger Rule wrote the article "the Riflemans Rifle" that brought a lot of attention to the model 70. I will buy a .270 this year and get a stellar stock made! Hopefully from levers! ThomC Report post Posted March 7, 2016 Many of us like the old hand rubbed oil finish from the good old days when there were real people rather than the plastic we see now.
