capoeirajosh Report post Posted January 26, 2016 If you already have viper 10x50 what upgrade would you expect from 10x42s? Just my opinion, I have yet to experience challenging light conditions while hunting in AZ so I just cant justify the need/ cost for the top of the line glass. I hunt with a guy who uses 15x56 swaros and hes never happy when I spot deer first with my cheaper 12x50 glass. And he can't freehand them. A compact spotter might be a solution for you. Ultimately everyones eyes are different and you just need a system that works for you. For better glass and less weight. The 10x42's that I held felt way lighter than my 10x50's. The 12's felt about the same, maybe a bit lighter than my 10's.
Maverick351 Report post Posted February 1, 2016 I started out with 10x42 and then used a buddies 12x50's and his 15x56's and after being in the field with both I decided on the 12x50 because they were not only clearer (to me) but more versatile. I won't own or use anything else now.
