Swaro vs. Zeiss

Recommended Posts

I probably know the answer to this question, but I'm going to ask it any way. I'm working on convincing my wife to let me get 15x56s. My heart was set on Swaros until I did a quick check and saw the pro deal I get on Zeiss. I'm a fan of both Swaro and Zeiss optics. I have 10x42 ELs and two Zeiss scopes on rifles. Is there a huge difference in the quality of Zeiss Conquest 15x56 binos and Swaro SLC 15x56 binos? The price difference is huge and I can justify one more easily than the other with my wife, but if Swaros are the better choice, quality-wise, so be it. Thanks!

Why don't you get a pro deal on Swarovski's?

I actually do, but Zeiss Conquests are still about half what I'd pay for Swaros. The Swaro pro deal is why I haven't ruled them out. If Swaros are better, I'll still pay that over Zeiss.

The conquest are nice but they are half price for a reason. If you get the swaro 12 or 15s you'll never wonder what if.

The old saying you get what you pay for comes into play

I wouldn't say there is a huge difference. The biggest difference I saw was it was a little harder for me to get the ziess in focus. I liked the swaro's enough to spend the extra money, but can't say I would have been dissatisfied with the ziess.

I looked through both 10x42's and I thought the Swaro's were better and paid the extra money.

Initially I had the same focus issue with my Zeiss. Discovered that IPD is somewhat critical with the Zeiss. Once I figured that out, no further issues. Sharper than my "old" Swaro 15 X 56. Swaro HD 15x56 is the top of the heap at this time. Something to consider. You're going to have these for a very long time, right?

I have the zeiss HD and they are better than everything BUT the new HD swaros. I have had them side by side with all models of swaro 15's, leica 15's, kaibabs. Everyone agreed also. Yes the swaros are a little better, but IMHO they are not $1,000 better.

You won't ever regret either. Especially if you are able to get a deal. I don't know if you get pro deals on the Meopta line but they are worth throwing in the ring with the others as well.

Thanks for the replies, fellas! You pretty much answered my question, but there is still room. I guess I'd need to go somewhere and compare the two, but it comes down to my familiarity with Swaro binos and that "what if" question. I'll give Dave a call when I get a chance. Thanks!
