Titanium700 Report post Posted January 10, 2016 My daughter has a RAR in .243 the muddy girl pink one..lol. It's got a Vortex 3x9 on it and shoots really well. Well enough in fact for me to consistently bang a 10"x10" metal plate at 500 yds with it. I'm embarrassed to shoot it but it speaks for it self when the metal clangs. The wife wants to get a rifle to try for hunting but not 100% sure whether she'll like it or not so not wanting to drop a lot on one quite yet. ready2hunt Report post Posted January 11, 2016 I do not use that round but my father in law bought 2 Ruger Americans a couple of years ago. Yes the stock is simple composite with no fancy ergonomics but the block bed that is sits in rivals my high end Remington. I would buy one without hesitation. As long as you are not looking for aftermarket customization on the stock itself you'll have a rifle that will rival some high end purchases. Would the 6.5 be any better or have any advantages over the 7-08 for a woman? Are the rounds easily available and decent priced? Sorry I know little to nothing about rifles. MULEPACKHUNTER Report post Posted January 11, 2016 I rarely buy factory so not sure, I would bet the creed is more money but not much. Factory loads are on the shelf. The muzzle break option on the predetor is what will make the 6.5 feel like a 223 or less. STOMP442 Report post Posted January 12, 2016 The really nice thing about the Creedmoor is that there is high-quality match grade ammo available at very decent prices and for the most part, is very easy to find on the shelf. You may not find it on small mom & pop shelves but pretty much any big box store carries the stuff. When loaded with 140gr bullets the 6.5 creed will do absolutely anything the 7-08 will with a bit less recoil. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Ive heard these guns shoot real well. I have a coworker that just spent 4k on a custom gun before deer season. Never owned a deer rifle of his own before and drank the kool aid big time(hes got a friend that builds rifles that seen him coming a mile away). With 120-grain Nosler Ballistic Tips, she has taken Coues whitetails, Texas whitetails, desert mule deer and pronghorns. All were one-shot kills. She used her rifle to take one of the largest-bodied desert mule deer I have weighed: 265 lbs dressed. She shot it at a few steps under 400 yards (laser-ranged after the shot). When I was still down on the ranch, I kept a couple of youth model Remington 700s chambered for the 7mm-08 for guests to use.
