I think he will score over 370 easy enough. A few others and myself keep adding up the points and at a very low guess. The lowest we can get is 375" conserving on every point and mesurment. He may have another five inches in him before he sheds velvet. How deep would you guys say a mature bulls chest is? Lance Great bull.... I agree with you Lance I was in that 365-370 range...... He looked a little week in the front in the first couple of pics but on that side view you can see his brow tines are pushing 18 to 20 inches. Its hard to judge this bull because he does look different in every picture. He is also in velvet which always makes them look bigger but I would have to agree with 370+. Lance Report post Posted July 25, 2007 I have some time on my hands so I will show you how I break it down. While we are all waiting for the season to start! First off this bull is very even and has smooth flow to his antlers. This makes him seem smaller than he is. I think if you saw a 350" bull standing next to him it would be easer to gudge. Take a small peice of paper and pincel and measure the points compared to the body in the pictures using the paper for a measure tape. This will not give you the curveture of the point unless you turn the paper sideways and bend it with the tine. A "post-it" paper works well. Looking at the video he is very symmetrical so I think it is safe to say that once we mesure one side we can just double it. So lets start with the fronts. I went and measured some smaler mounts in the 310- 320 range and from the base of the antler to the tip of the nose was 15" So I think it is safe to say the biger bull in the picture has at least a 15" face. The 4th picture shows his fronts brodside and I measure his first about 5" longer than his face and his seconds seem to be at least that long as well if not longer. That would meen 20 " fronts but lets just call them all 18" to be safe. Next are his thirds. In the 2nd picture you can compare them to his first and second on the same side, and they seem about 4" shorter. And since we are being on the safe side we will call them 14". Next are his forths! I measured the depth of the chest on the mounts of the smaller bulls and they were both about 31" deep. I think this bull is a little deaper than that, but I think it is safe to say he is at least 31" deep in the chest. The 1st and the 5th picture show his sords the best and comparing them to his chest in the same pictures his sords are about 6" shorter than the depth of his chest. This would meen at least 25" sords. His fifths look to be about 6" shorter than his sords so that would be 19" fifths. I am comparing his main beams to a bull I know has 53" main beams. I think his beams are at least that long cause they stick a foot over his back when his nose is two the ground feeding but lets just call them 50" to be safe. Although his forth and fifths tip in, his spread is normal so you could give him a 40" spread. But as the first picture shows his main beams flare out at the ends. This usually gives a bull at least another five inches. So 45" for the spread. And then his mass. He looks to have great mass. Not including velvet! A bull like this can easily have 60" of mass but to be safe lets call it 55" Add up all of our safe measurements and it = 388" but don't forget that he has about a 4" in line 7th point on his right antler that makes a total of 392" gross. And then most people like to take off 10" just to be safe which would be 382" And then you have to say "will he grow another five inches in the next two weeks?" I have seen bulls grow a whole 4" 7th point and a couple of inches on each main beam in the last two weeks before sheding velvet. So I think it is safe to say he might grow another 5" before he is done. That brings us back to 387". Bwaaahahahaha! OK, ok, I'll stop. Hope you had fun!
