azcouesandelk Report post Posted July 24, 2007 Well I went out yesterday and finally picked upa video camera. I picked up a small hard drive camera to start with. It has a 40x optical zoom and a 2000x digital zoom. Now I can attempt to film my elk hunt, pig hunt, deer hunt, and dads elk hunt and a couple other elk hunts and a mule deer hunt. So now all I need is a video editing program. Here is a link to the camera. http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/stores...ductId=11039232
tjhunt2 Report post Posted July 24, 2007 Younghunter, you are about to enter a whole new ball game with that camera. Practice practice practice Once you master the auto, work on your manual recording. I found if you walk with a walking stick it helps to steady your camera when zooming in. Have fun. COOSEFAN Report post Posted July 24, 2007 Looks like a great camera! I really like the 40X optical zoom it has! Make sure it's on a tripod........I always forget that
SunDevil Report post Posted July 24, 2007 I would get a doubler also. Scout'm has one and it pretty nice. They only cost about $40 and 80X optical with a doubler is a whole lot better than 80X digital.
youngbuck Report post Posted July 24, 2007 keep us informed on how you like it. I am looking for a similar type camera. I was looking at the panasonic 30g HDD w/ a 32x optical. If you like the sony i may end up going that way
DotShot Report post Posted July 24, 2007 Prior to purchasing a new video camera recently i did alot of research on the HDD cameras and did not like what i read. Most of the reviews were quite negative on video quality produced by these new cameras which lead me to purchase a Mini-DV tape camcorder instead. I am really interested in seeing some of the videos you take to see if there was any validity to the reviews. Also with the zoom that you have make sure you have a tripod and hopefully the camera has some good video stabilization casue it will get awful jittery without! Good luck and may you get some awesome footage from your upcomming hunts!
