5guyshunting Report post Posted December 25, 2015 I have a 1985 mini-14 ranch rifle that has been sitting since about 1992. I know probably 3000 to 4000 rounds were shot through , sometimes one 30 round mag after another and another. I pulled it out today and broke it down. Huh! the bolt is broke, I wonder why. Huh, I was the idiot 30 years ago. Any way, just wondering if I should fix the bolt or is the barrel shot out. I know I was an idiot, with no regard for the future of this rifle, but thats what happens when your young and dumb.
Titanium700 Report post Posted December 25, 2015 Mini 14's aren't accurate enough to notice if they are shot out or not. Get the bolt fixed and let her rip.
QhunterAZ Report post Posted December 25, 2015 get hold of ruger, they will probably send you the parts to fix it for nothing.
Hoss50 Report post Posted December 25, 2015 Get her fixed. I love my mini. It isn't as accurate as an AR but is more reliable like an AK.

PRDATR Report post Posted December 29, 2015 30 years ago a friend and I were out shooting and his mini decided to self destruct. Blew out the bottom of the receiver. He sent it to them and they sent him a new rifle. Fortunately he only suffered a few powder burns. Seemed like it fired out of battery.
