cactusjack Report post Posted December 13, 2015 With factory 180gr winchester ballistic silvertip. 3 shot group. Have a couple 5 shot groups the same size but I can't remember where I stored them.
cactusjack Report post Posted December 13, 2015 If and when I want to reach out a little further I break out the Cross Canyon Arms 300 ultramag Tejas. I just got stamped brass so I feel legit. Nightforce one piece ring/base with bubble cap. I had a Nightforce 5-25x56 on it but I hated the weight. The pst 6-24x50 FFP moa has been great. I had been fire forming brass from ultramag stuff. Hopefully can get enough new brass to end that.

HuntHarder Report post Posted December 13, 2015 Those are some sweet rigs. I like that manners stock on that tikka. Thanks for posting
lancetkenyon Report post Posted December 13, 2015 I think a 10-11# rifle is a great carry weight longer range rig. Good compromise and balance of weight to stability. 11# isn't too bad to carry over many a mountain mile either. Nice rifles Cactusjack. Is the Tejas an "Ackleyized" .300RUM? cactusjack Report post Posted December 13, 2015 Basically yes. Brad Stair is the builder and developer of all the Tejas calibers. He loaded some 168 bergers for me that were screamers. 96grs of r22. I sent them back and he sent me some with 95grs. 3750 to 3800 fps was too fast. 96grs worked in Utah but in Casa Grande was too much.
cactusjack Report post Posted December 13, 2015 180gr accubond next to a loaded 168gr berger. Up until last year (or 3, time melds together ) I had to fireform. I haven't shot it much since I have gone the way of the suppressor.
carpcody Report post Posted December 13, 2015 Hey cactusjack both those setups look pretty sweet. I have an older savage 110 in 7mm that I'm going to try and customize a little, not so much for long range but because of the weight factor and just to do it. It's cool seeing these guns that have some work done on them.
lancetkenyon Report post Posted December 14, 2015 What I really like about that Tejas is the shoulder looks like a 40°, and not only bumped a bit forward, but also lengthened the neck just a bit too. Great design.
