Camo Poncho/Gillie Suit?

Does anyone use a camo poncho or similar while hunting to break up your outline and lines?

 

Some of the areas I have scouted for my elk hunt won't provide a ton of good cover so I have been thinking about making a camo poncho of sorts to help break up my outline as I hunt.

 

I have a couple sections of camo burlap that I have been thinking about using to do this with to make a sudo gillie suit/break up poncho.

 

I dont own any high end cool guy camo and don't plan to soon. Any thoughts.

I would not use a poncho but only because it would get in the way of drawing my bow. If I was carrying a rifle or ML I would use one. I watched Apex Predator last night where they used a gillie suit to get within 8 ft. of an antelope doe in an open pasture. Interesting show to watch and would give you a lot more information.

I keep a large poncho in my day pack in case of rain. Never tried to stalk in it, as the area I normally hunt has plenty of cover. It does work well if I am sitting, and need to make a natural blind.

This one wouldnt be for rain. It will be made of a loose woven camo burlap and used while sitting to brake up my outline.

 

I keep an emergency poncho in the day pack as well.

Bass has leafy suits. The low end ones run about 80 for the set (40 for each top and bottom). I like it. the bottoms pull over just like sweat pants, and I got a big enough size to wear over a few layers of close and I have a military style camelback, -lower profile- and depending upon the hunt, I will put It on over that as well.
