TLH Report post Posted July 15, 2007 Looks as if i got a ranch that isn't 12 hours away. I have the Oct. hunt and the ranch i have is the Daniel White Ranch near Atarque New Mexico. Do any of you New Mexico fellas or gals know anything about that area for pronghorn? I will be heading over there in a couple of weeks to have a look. I have hunted near crazies and Socorro and have guided in Springer and the two just mentioned areas but have ever been around the White Ranch--i am excited about that area just because i have never been there!! TLH Report post Posted July 16, 2007 TLH, When did you receive your assignment? I am still waiting on mine for the Sept. hunt. Dan, i got it Saturday--still no tag though--just the assignment!! Almost as much fun as waiting for draw as it is waiting to see what ranch you get. I am not familiar with that area but at least it is only about 5.5 hours away--could run up there on a Saturday and check the ranch out on Sunday and be home before 10 on Sunday. Hooked_on_Coues Report post Posted July 23, 2007 Atarque has some great bucks. You will have to hunt for them but they have some good ones. Good luck.
TLH Report post Posted July 23, 2007 Atarque has some great bucks. You will have to hunt for them but they have some good ones. Good luck. I like to hunt them. I would like to get a buck that is at least 82" or bigger. I probably won't shoot a little, in fact i know i won't. Do you know what the country looks like in there?? Rolling hills?, brush, tree's?? I know it has to be way different than Carazozo and Socorro.

Do you know what ranch she has yet?? I have found that there are more bigger bucks in that area than most areas in New Mexico and i was hoping to get one of the ranches to the south but it didn't happen--might be a good thing though--i like checking new areas out. Come on back to AZOD once in a while.

Well Good luck Man!!>>Jason I have a friend of mine who is a New Mexico resident who drew a ranch tag NE of Carrizozo just south of Corona. He has yet to contact the rancher so he really doesn't know what to expect. Only time will tell. Good luck to your wife on her hunt.
TREESTANDMAN Report post Posted July 23, 2007 I just found out I was drawn for (MR. ANDERSON ESTATE) Doesn't anyone know anything regarding this ranch?
TLH Report post Posted July 23, 2007 I just found out I was drawn for (MR. ANDERSON ESTATE) Doesn't anyone know anything regarding this ranch? You should have a phone number for that ranch--give them a call and let them know you will be hunting their ranch--also, make sure you thank them for participating in the landowner tag program. I also wrote the WM for the unit i have and he wrote back--give that guy a try.
bear carver Report post Posted July 24, 2007 Hi, I am new to this site, My brother Jim from Egar, AZ has been on here for some time, I live just north east of Mr. Whites ranch, Look up Fence Lake, NM on your map and that will get you there. The country around here is about 6 to 7,500 feet in elevation depending on where your at, we have mostly pinon and sigle seed juniper with some ponderosa, rolling hills with some bluffs and large open grasslands mixed in. There are some good pockets of Antalope in the region as well as Elk but they are what I feel is a tough hunt. Mr White is a very nice man, if you give him a call he would most likely be very helpfull to you. Good luck. I have seen some very nice bucks in the area so your chance of finding what your looking for is pretty good

I called the ranch and spoke to a woman and she was a very nice person. I like hunting the thicker stuff for antelope--usually they live longer than the wide open bucks. I killed a 87 2/8 B&C buck in unit 8 (AZ) three years ago with my muzzy and he lived in the pine tree's--i am not sure if i can top him but i will sure try. So, i am assuming that in Oct. it gets a little chilly? When i head up to scout i would like to meet ya--it won't be until Sept. I will let ya know when i am coming up! Thanks again for the info!
