Nobody Report post Posted November 19, 2015 Anybody had any experience with these cages that we are required to use now? I run a few and would be happy to get and give any advice I can. PM

lancetkenyon Report post Posted November 22, 2015 I found 2 cage traps today while duck hunting. Sure doesn't look like they are being checked everyday. The bait in them was all dried out. Is there supposed to be any ID on them?
nateNAU Report post Posted November 22, 2015 Most trappers rebait only about once every week or two, or at least I do, so its not uncommon for the bait to look dry. Their should be an Id on it but its not required to be visible when the trap is set. Only g&f can start handling the trap to find the Id. Cages can be checked from a long ways away so odds are the traps are being checked evenif there are no fresh footprints around.
FancyRedneck Report post Posted November 22, 2015 Yes there is supposed to be at the least the trapper id number . Yes a lot of Trappers put them where they can check them with binos so they dont leave tracks and take a chance of losing a trap .
lancetkenyon Report post Posted November 23, 2015 Thanks for the education on the traps. I didn't mess with any of them. I actually used my binos too.
Nobody Report post Posted November 24, 2015 Yes The cages are suposed to have an Id tag with the trappers # on it . There are many hoops to jump through to trap in AZ. For instance no leg holds on public or state land only private. You must check your traps everyday. The length of chain and swivel not to mention the poundage of the spring that must be attatched if over 12 inches. Many many rules. I suggest you follow them those Game Wardens can be pretty sneaky.
