mgorm16640 Report post Posted November 18, 2015 Live in Flagstaff. Recently locked action on 300 H&H, after firing reload. I pulled other bullets and all were well within guidelines. Need to find gunsmith that can open action. I don't mind driving if necessary.
lancetkenyon Report post Posted November 18, 2015 Excessively loud? Excessive recoil? What action? Have you tried lightly tapping up on bolt handle (assuming it is a bolt gun)? First time using these reloads? Stiff closing the bolt before firing? Any signs of gas leakage from port? Did bullet exit barrel?
cactusjack Report post Posted November 18, 2015 Id get some Kroil and douse that action from the top and spray some down the barrel too. give it 30 min or so to sit. Then try it by hand first. Another thing I have tried is heating the action with my torch then turning a can of compressed air over and hitting the bolt area with the cold. Shrink one, expand the other. I'm not a gunsmith, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express one time. Good luck.

IA Born Report post Posted November 19, 2015 Gary Reeder over at Reeder Custom Guns/Pistol Parlor might be able to help you. Another is Seth Staples at Rim Country Rifles. He lives in Parks. He makes awesome rifles and does great work. Those would be my top two choices.
IA Born Report post Posted November 20, 2015 I almost forgot about Dark Sky Solutions here in town. Jason that runs it is a former Navy medic and great guy. His son was my daughter's classmate for a couple of years and he and his son were in my hunter ed class this summer. Top notch place!

AZ RANGER Report post Posted November 24, 2015 I just had this happen to my son's .243 win. a couple days ago. We were shooting some really old factory rounds and i guess a round got over pressured somehow. I covered the action in oil and softly tapped it with a hammer. Opened right up.

mgorm16640 Report post Posted December 4, 2015 I hit up Jason yesterday. Unable to help as he did not want to hurt the rifle, so off to the factory it goes. Shouldn't be a deterrent though. Great shop, once you find. Nice guy, seems knowledgeable.
