coues krazy Report post Posted July 12, 2007 I shoot 90 grain muzzy four blade now, but am going to switch to 100 grain four blades for better forward of center on my arrows. I will say those four blades leave a hole you can almost put your fist through!
crazyaboutcoues Report post Posted July 12, 2007 Some of my friends think i'm crazy but I use 90 muzzys for everything Javelina to Elk. To me it's more about shot placement
azcouesandelk Report post Posted July 12, 2007 100 grain slick tricks for elk, deer and javelina and I will have some rage 2 blades for deer and pig. I was shooting 70 and 80 yards at my glendel buck with the rage and went 10 for 10 with kill shots.
Foundry Man Report post Posted July 12, 2007 100 grain Steelforce w/ bleeder blades. They fly like a lazer and kill stuff. I almost cut my elk in half! But if they are sharp, and you put it right in the goodies, any broadhead will work.

I was shooting 70 and 80 yards at my glendel buck with the rage and went 10 for 10 with kill shots. Knees and rump roasts and horns are not considered kill shots. Just thought I would clear that up. Let me be more specific by kill shot I mean lungs and or heart (with one shot hitting him in the spine ) But still those were all kills shots.

COOSEFAN Report post Posted July 12, 2007 100gr G5 Montec's OR the trusty Muzzy's and Thunderheads.......you can't go wrong with either one! Hey Casey.....you should just shoot blunts......'yer not gonna hit em anyways! If i ever get a shot ill hit em, ill just never get a shot! I do believe when we were hunting in december you were telling us about all your MISSES at coues... including one at like 5 yards i believe. Am I correct on this? maybe you would like to share with the class (smartass!) hey, atleast you shoot a good broadhead though! Casey, I haven't had that many misses.....I haven't had one single hit either and that one was not 5 yrds....it was like 15yrds and that buck pulled a "Matrix" move on my arrow....you'd have to see it to believe it! I killed a bear with those Steelforce heads and I loved them until after when I had bought two packages that had defective heads in each....That killed it for me and I then went to the Montec's. The Tekans flew awesome and smacked my 'Loper at 60 yrds with em', but like has been said....I got tired of having to make sure they weren't deployed to any extent when pulling em' out of the quiver or when just sitting on the string! I'll stick to the fixed blades.....less worry! JIM>
jnobleinaz Report post Posted July 12, 2007 I have shot 1 deer with rocky mountain revolution (which they dont make anymore), he went 30 yards, 1 deer with a steel force 2 blade, he didnt know what happened and hung out in front of me until he started swaying then dropped. But with the 2 blades I was getting a lot of planing at longer yardage. I still have the 2 above, but also am going to try the tekan II's the blade retention has been improved but I dont really think it matters as long as you have a good shot angle and placement. crazy4COUES Report post Posted July 13, 2007 I have been using the ROCKET AEROHEAD 75 gr. ultimate steels, however everytime I shoot one into a deer, it breaks one blade off. So the next one for me to try is going to be the american broadheads 75 gr. sonic heads. They appear to have a design that will prevent as much breakage. coueshunter84 Report post Posted July 13, 2007 I like the whatever works idea. I shoot about anything 100 gr. I can get to fly straight. Right now Rocket ultimate steels. Sonoran 2 and 3 blade, Shuttle T-locs, wac-ems, Muzzy 3 and 4 blade, judos, blunts, and the nonfancy field points that fit my easton axis arrows. Soemone above mentioned losing blades on the Rockets. If its the ultimate steels that you are losing blade off of. The trick is to put a pair of pliers to them. Put something between the shaft and the pliers, and use a big broad head wrench. You have to put some torque on them to get the blades to stay put. Took me a while to figure that one out. A bit of loc-tite on the threads prior to this dosent hurt either. I havent lost a blade since I started doing this.
