Gut your deer in 24 and the coatis will be there before coyotes. They love those gut piles and if i remember correctly ;) they loved corn! Would have 20-30 of them taking turns hanging on feeder.

I've never seen one in person.

Up close they look like a rabid baboon! 😧

 

They run in packs or troops or whatever they are called and they have big teeth! I let my young son, think he was 12 at time, try and see how close he could get to them and at 10 yards they started showing their teeth. 😬

  1. Forty to fifty years ago when I did a lot of varmint calling, I went through a period when all I called in were coatis. If I wanted to hunt them today, I'd head for the oak zone of any southeastern Arizona mountain and look for a steep slope with shale (coatis turn rocks over to eat the things they find under them) and start calling.
